There is "Something Big" Coming

full moon in winter over trees

December of 2010 at 3:00 am, I got out of bed and looked out of my kitchen window. Only the moon lit up the dark night shining on the white frozen snow-covered ground. It was the most peaceful scene one could ever set eyes on. Nothing moving; all was still, motionless and at peace. Then I heard the Lord gently speak to me in His still small voice saying; “There is something big coming.” His voice was sweet and comforting with no alarm or fear attached to His words. He was letting me know that the peaceful scenery I was looking at, would be the opposite of what He just told me was coming. Not knowing what the “something big” was, I looked at examples in the Bible.

Something Big through Moses - I always had imagined God spoke to some of the Israelites who were in captivity in Egypt telling them “something big” was coming. The Israelites already knew God had told Abram they would come out of Egypt after 400 years. (Genesis 15:13) God told Moses He was going to rescue the Israelites. (Exodus 3:7-8) This Exodus from captivity was “something big” and was accompanied by supernatural signs!

Something Big through Deborah - In the days of Deborah, a judge in Israel, the people were under the oppressive rule of the Amalekites who were Canaanites. Deborah by the Word of the Lord told Barak to go to battle against the Amalekites and God would deliver the enemy into their hands. Deborah and Barak led the Israelites against their oppressors overcoming them. Sisera, the commander of the Canaanite army escaped to hide in a tent owned by a woman named Jael who killed Sisera while he slept, helping to deliver Israel. They were no longer in bondage to a twenty-year oppressive rule to the Amalekites.’ This release from oppression was “something big” and was accompanied by supernatural signs!

Something Big through Esther - Through a lengthy process, Esther was chosen to reign as queen to King Xerxes. By the trickery of a man named Haman, a decree was made to annihilate all the Jewish people, the day was set. Esther sent word to her Jewish people to fast. God gave Esther favor, divinely exposing Haman’s evil plot. The king told Esther to write a new Decree to reverse the evil one Haman wrote. The Jewish people were miraculously saved along with Esther. This was the saving of a nation that God called the “apple of His eye.” (Zechariah 2:8) All these twists of events were truly “something big” and were accompanied by supernatural signs!

Something Big through Joshua – After the Israelites crossed the Jordan River to possess their promised land, their first conquest was at Jericho. The inhabitants of Jericho were Canaanites who worshipped a sun god named Molech. It was customary to offer bodies of unborn children from the mother’s womb as sacrifices through fire. The charred baby’s remains were stowed in jars and placed in small chambers inside of the walls of Jericho. This was an altar and memorial to their god, Molech and Baal. God instructed the Israelites to march around these walls once a day for six days playing their trumpets and carrying the Ark of the Covenant. On the seventh day they marched around the city seven times and shouted, causing the walls of Jericho to miraculously fall down. The altars of Molech and Baal collapsed and the abomination of abortion was brought to an end. God promised to take the Israelites to a land flowing with milk and honey and assisted them to bring down the walls of Jericho. This was “something big” and was accompanied by supernatural signs!

Something Big through Gideon - After seven years of oppression under the Midianites, the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon calling him a mighty warrior. This was opposite of how Gideon saw himself. (Judges 6:11-12) For seven years, the Midianites robbed the Israelites of their harvest causing devastation. God told Gideon it was time to stand up to these Midianites and He gave Gideon instructions on how to gather a fearless, but small army. Gideon obeyed and with a few fearless men drove out the Midianites by breaking some jars and shining their torches in the night. God helped them secure their land from being devastated by the Midianites. This was “something big” and was accompanied by supernatural signs!

Something Big through ordinary people – One by one Jesus spoke to ordinary men and women during his lifetime to follow him. After Jesus was crucified, resurrected and had ascended, (Luke 24:50-53) there were 120 ordinary men and women who followed the instructions Jesus gave them to wait in Jerusalem until the gift of the Holy Spirit would come upon them with power. These people did not know what was going to happen to them, nor did they know how this Spirit called Holy would present himself to them. But they obeyed. For ten days these ordinary people waited together behind closed doors, praying in unity out of love for one another and out of obedience to what Jesus had told them to do. While together in this one place, they suddenly heard with their ears a violent wind come in and fill their whole house. They saw with their eyes flames of fire burning upon each one there. They were all filled with this Holy Spirit and began to speak in different languages. The people of the city were shocked and wondered what was happening. Peter explained to the people in the city that this was the outpouring of the Holy Spirit that God had promised to send to them. (Joel 2:28-32) In reply, the people of the city asked, “What does this mean and what shall we do?” Peter told them to repent and stop living their lives serving their idols and traditions, but to turn their hearts back to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Three thousand were baptized in one day. That was surely a remarkable day. It was “something big” and was accompanied by supernatural signs!

All of the examples listed above were frightening, oppressive circumstances, but God always brought a way of deliverance for the people. God does fore-warn us of difficult situations, but He has already prepared a way for us to come through it. Ask Jesus Christ to be your Savior. He wants to be your Shepherd so you can hear His voice clearly and come into a place of safety. John 10:27-28, “My sheep hear my voice and I know them and they follow me; and I give unto them eternal life and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”

Ask for the baptism of the Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking in a heavenly language. It is the dunamis power of the Holy Spirit that will cause an oppressive situation to turn around for you. It is through the power of the Holy Spirit that we are witnesses of the “something big” accompanied by supernatural signs!

I Decree you and your household are safe in your homes and protected when you are called out of your homes. I Decree the "something big" is a turn around happening in your life that is causing a breakthrough and a freedom from all captivity and bondage that you were being held in. I Decree you will overcome all fear and move forward with wisdom and revelation. I Decree this is your time of your deliverance and going in to possess the land and the inheritance that the Lord God promised to give you and your family! In Jesus’ name. Hallelujah!
